Puklavec Family Wines, Instinct Vranec 2019

Founded in 1931 and now into its fourth generation of family ownership, Puklavec Family Wines are putting Slovenian winemaking on the map. Making approachable and thoroughly enjoyable wines, they definitely have the right attitude in that, "What’s the point of a wonderful bottle of wine if you cannot share it with people who are precious to you?" Instinct Vranec 2019 is made using 100% Vranec. A dark ruby coloured red produced from 30 years old vines. The wine reveals a fruit forward character on the nose with of raspberry, dark plum a long with spicy notes. On the palate it is a rich and full bodied with soft, suple and elegant tannins. It pairs well with a variety of meaty dishes, but is a knockout with roast lamb.
