Ovum, Off The Grid 2019

Flag of United States

Established in 2011 by husband-wife duo Ksenija & John House, Ovum was founded in hopes of producing Oregon white wines that are honest reflections of time and place. Their low intervention production method is a commitment to letting the wine and vineyard shine, not the winemaker: at Ovum, fruit comes first. Off The Grid 2019 is a dry Riesling and has a complex set of aromatics that live in the realm of flinty apricot meeting orange soaked guava on a river bank. The texture reminds us of full bodied white Burgundy, but then it comes through with thunderous acidity to remind you, "Hey, I'm still Riesling!" Smoky, mineral, salty, plummy and with only 1500 bottles made, this really is a rare, top-shelf white wine.
