Musso, Barbaresco Pora 2017

The small family-run winery of Musso can trace their roots in Italy's storied Piedmont region to the 17th century. Today, they occupy some of the best sites in Barbaresco and produce top quality wines made from the Nebbiolo grape. Their Barbaresco Pora 2017 is a "cru" Barbaresco, meaning the Pora vineyard is one of the best in the entire region. An incredibly expressive, elegant and grand red, it opens with a nose full of ripe cherries, raspberries and wild strawberries along with hints of dried flowers. On the palate berry fruits are supported by a gentle spicy-earthiness along with some notes of cinnamon, leather and vanilla. This is a deliciously savoury wine which we recommend letting breathe for a good hour or so before enjoying with rich dishes; equally, it will age very well for many years to come in bottle.
