Capezzana, Villa di Capezzana Carmignano 2017

Flag of Italy

Now into its 5th generation of Contini Bonacossi family ownership, the storied vineyards of Capezzana actually date back to 804 AD. An ancient parchment stored at the Florentine state archives shows the granting of a lease for vineyards and an olive grove to a villa called Capezzana in the town of Carmignano; all of which are still in use today. Villa di Capezzana 2017 celebrates the history & future of Capezzana - it blends the native Sangiovese (80%) with Cabernet Sauvignon (20%), the partnership which forms the backbone of all great "Super Tuscan" red wines. Flavours of oak, chocolate and juicy cherries combine on a full-bodied palate. There's a big spiced note along with a thicket of bramble flavours on a long, long finish - it's a great pair with herby, meaty sauces & pastas.
