Vieux Château des Combes, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2014

Flag of France

Vieux Château des Combes is located in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, just five kilometres away from the historic village of Saint-Emilion. The winery dates back to the 17th Century, when Benedictine monks from a nearby abbey began planting vines on the small hills (known as combes) which surround the estate. Their 2014 vintage is made from a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc; the grapes were harvested and matured for 12 months in French oak prior to release. The nose has lovely aromas of blackcurrant, a hint of liquorice and dark cherries over some earth and subtle cedary tobacco notes. The palate is medium bodied & elegant with fine tannins and further black fruit flavours and spice. A superb value, mature St-Emilion.
