Vie di Romans, Dessimis Pinot Grigio 2019

Vie di Romans is a staple name in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of north eastern Italy. Based in the small town of Isonzo, winemaker and producer extraordinaire Gianfranco Gallo has been managing the estate since its inception in 1978. Recently featured in "The Great Wines of Italy", this is a winery well-worth knowing about. Dessimis 2019 is 100% Pinot Grigio; almost looking like a rosé in colour, it has a bouquet full of sweet pastry along with notes of ripe pear and honeydew melon. It has extraordinary complexity and structure on the palate, with flavours of orange zest and a gorgeously complex oaky-peachiness. Textured and rich, this wine has a long, persistent finish and really is Pinot Grigio at its very best. A knockout with shellfish.
