Soto Manrique, La Viña de Ayer Garnacha 2021

Flag of Spain

The Soto Manrique family first came to winemaking in Rueda, but as the second generation has joined the business, they have turned their attention to producing wines in the Cebreros DO, located in the Sierra de Gredos range to the west of Madrid. This up-and-coming region is gaining plaudits for producing a unique style of Garnacha, with an almost Pinot-like elegance and finesse, crafted from old vines planted on granite and slate soils. And that's exactly what we have here with their La Viña de Ayer Garnacha 2021. Taken from vineyards between 750-1100m above sea level, the grapes not only ripen perfectly, but ageing in stainless steel retains all the freshness in the wine. Delicate and floral, with notes of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry and violet; the palate is delicately structured with a herbaceousness complimenting the long finish.
