Solar de Randez, Rioja Reserva 2017

Raimundo Abando is head winemaker of RIoja's Solar de Randez. Gentle giant Rai used to compete in triathlons at international level, but now puts all his energy into producing and ageing some very elegant Rioja. He is the 3rd generation of winemakers in his family, dating back to 1900, and his wines truly speak of authentic Riojan tradition. Rioja Reserva 2017 is made from 100% organically farmed Tempranillo. The grapes were harvested and aged for 24 months in French oak and 16 months in bottle prior to release to enhance the richness of the wine. The nose displays touches of redcurrant, cherry, blackberry, cedar and hints of tobacco. It is creamy on the palate with a medium to full body, with the tannic structure being well-balanced by the fruit concentration and good level of acidity. The perfect wine to pair with roast lamb.
