Renegade Urban Winery, Varnika 2020

One of the coolest wineries going, Renegade have been producing wine in the heart of East London since 2016. Making everything from your classics to the more avant-garde, Renegade put a real emphasis on the most important part of wine: the people. Each label shows the eyes of a different person who lives in the UK who each forms a key part of the rich tapestry that makes our island so special. Varnika 2020 is made from 100% Pinot Noir grown in Surrey. Light-bodied, soft and fresh with cranberries, cherries nettles and rosemary. The grapes were destemmed by hand and fermented naturally (by wild yeasts). After fermentation it was pressed off the skins and transferred to oak barrels, where it aged for 1.5 years before being bottled. A great pair with mushrooms or poultry.
