Prunus, Dão Tinto 2021

Prunus was established in 2010 to shine a spotlight on Portugal's unsung region: Dão. Centrally located, mountainous and exposed to cooling winds, the Prunus vineyards are able to express the lighter side of Portugal's red wines. Dão Tinto 2021 is made from a blend of 80% Jaen (Mencia), 10% Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo) and 10% Alfrocheiro. The grapes were harvested and spent just 6 months in old oak prior to bottling to soften the wine whilst retaining freshness. Juicy red fruits like cherry and raspberry are complemented by floral notes of violet and a touch of spice. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied with soft tannins, a fresh acidity, and a whisper of oak adding subtle complexity. Perfect with charcuterie, pasta, or a cozy night in, this is an easy-drinking gem with plenty of charm.
