Pedro Parra, Vinista Itata Valley País 2019

Pedro Parra is a renowned soil expert who has helped many wineries ensure they plant the most appropriate vines for their soils. Believing if you look after the soil then the rest will follow, he partnered with winemaker Alberto Antonini in 2013 to make wine under his own label. In doing so, he aims to help local “brave vignerons” who have protected the land, vines and traditional Chilean way of life for centuries. Vinista Itata Valley País 2019 has an intriguing nose of wild strawberry, sage, baking spice and white pepper. These aromas carry through to the palate and are complemented with a refreshing acidity and fine tannins. Not only do the savoury flavours in this wine make it a great pair with a herby chicken casserole, but it's also an interesting new grape to try for lovers of light-bodied red wines.
