Charles Krug, Vintage Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2018

Flag of United States

As Napa's oldest winery, the history of Charles Krug starts in 1861, when the winery's namesake, the visionary father of Napa Valley winemaking, established the winery that started it all in this now world-renowned region. The Mondavi Family purchased this already iconic estate in 1943, and for over 75 years and four generations they have been passionately perfecting an enduring legacy for those generations still to come. The 2018 Vintage Selection is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon taken from some of Napa's best vineyards: 42% Slinsen (Yountville), 33% Cold Springs (Howell Mountain) and 25% Voltz (Yountville). A nose of ripe blackcurrants, dark cherries, and blackberries intermingle with subtle hints of tobacco leaf, cedarwood, and vanilla. The palate is unbelievably opulent, with layers of dark fruit accompanied by notes of espresso, dark chocolate, and a touch of spice. The texture is velvety-smooth, with finely integrated tannins providing structure and balance. It's a wine of depth and intensity, showcasing the full potential of exceptional Napa Cab.
