Château Les Bertrands, Blaye-Côtes 2020

Flag of France

Now into the 9th generation of Dubois family ownership, Château Les Bertrands is a true stalwart of Bordeaux's right-bank Blaye-Côtes appelation. Current custodian, Laurent, took the reigns in 2004 and continues the family tradition of working side-by-side with his parents and children; producing exceptional wines from the region's famous gravelly-sandy soils. Blaye-Côtes 2020 is made from a blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Malbec; the vines of which are all at least 35 years old. The grapes were harvested and aged in a mixture of stainless steel and concrete for 15 months prior to bottling. 2020 was a hot vintage in Bordeaux, and likewise this wine has an intensely fruity nose of blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry and bramble. The palate is supple, with fine tannins and balanced acidity. A powerful wine best paired with red meats.
