Château Guiraud, Sauternes 2006 (375ml)

Flag of France

Château Guiraud takes its name from a Bordeaux negociant, Pierre Guiraud, who purchased the estate in 1766. Included among the few original first growths in the 1855 classification, Château Guiraud has more than a hundred hectares of vines and is currently the only first growth to be officially certified for organic viticulture. Sauternes 2006 is an immensely opulent wine. Intense aromas of ripe exotic fruit, dried apricot and peach, with a nutty toastiness and complex sweet stem ginger and marmalade aromas all jump out of the glass. It is a rich, full bodied sweet wine, yet has a mouthwatering freshness despite its age, which all culminates in an almost ridiculously long persistent and beautifully complex finish.
