Casa Ferreira, Dona Antonia 10 Year Tawny Port NV
Casa Ferreira are one of our favourite Portuguese producers. With their winemaking roots dating back to 1751, it remains the only Port house which has always remained in Portuguese hands. However it wasn't until Dona Antonia Adelaide Ferreira took the reins (at just 33 years of age) in 1844 that Casa Ferreira really took off. Dona Antonia remains the matriarch for this fabulous winery and her values of altruism and generosity live on today. She is also this wine's namesake. Made from the classic Port blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo), aged and slowly oxidised in oak over the course of 10 years. Rich amber hues. Aromas of dried figs, toasted nuts, and caramelized orange zest lead to a palate of velvety complexity. Flavors of toffee, honeyed almonds, and a touch of spice linger beautifully. Vibrant acidity balances sweetness, delivering a luxurious, warming finish. Perfect with aged cheeses or caramel desserts.
