Barco del Corneta, Cucú 2023

Beatriz Herranz is a real wine success-story. In 2008 she planted five hectares of Verdejo in the village of La Seca. In 2010 she loaded up a van with her grapes and made 300 bottles of her first wine. The year after she bought another barrique and increased production to 1,000 bottles, and in 2013 she rented a space in La Seca and started growing slowly, until she reached 35,000 bottles produced in 2014 and beyond. Cucú 2023 is made from 100% Verdejo taken from the estate's younger vines; the grapes were harvested and then fermented in stainless steel vats and left on its lees with regular stirring to add volume and structure to the palate. A fresh and delightful young wine, bursting with bright zesty citrus, bitter melon, herbs and cool mineral nuance. A great wine to enjoy as an aperitif or with lighter fish dishes.
