Blauer Portugieser is a red grape found across Austria, Slovenia and Hungary, where it is one of the permitted grapes in the Hungarian wine, Egri Bikavér (Bull's blood). Making generally fresh, lighter body, low tannin wines, it's a great blending partner to heavier grapes and also responds well to oak ageing.
